Pump University Wraps Up Exceptional Year
The numbers speak for themselves. More than 1,100 people graduated from Gardner Denver’s Pump University program in 2014. Pump U instructors held approximately 120 classes at 25 different locations throughout the United States. Pump U is a hands-on training class to teach proper maintenance of SGWS and TLS 10 Fluid Ends.
“We’re still receiving great feedback on this program,” says Chase Rayburn, Gardner Denver Pump University Coordinator. “For instance, after finishing a class in Corpus Christi, a supervisor told me this is the best training he has seen. He said we give the real meat and potatoes of the maintenance, don’t get too technical and it’s easy to follow. That’s what is making this program so successful. ”
With such a demand for the classes, Gardner Denver doubled its instructors this past year. Now, Pump U instructors are located in all the major shale plays.
“I think what we have found is that because it was busy this past year, companies are constantly hiring new people,” says Rayburn.“They want Gardner Denver to train these new hires. They would rather go straight to the source. We have customers that have already scheduled training for all of next year.”
In addition to the Pump U training classes, Gardner Denver has also been holding Lunch & Learn classes. The classes are geared toward executives, engineers and support staff. Employees get an in-depth look at Gardner Denver products and can ask specific questions about how the pumps and fluid ends work. Plus, Pump U instructors are also conducting Pump 101 classes for both customers and Gardner Denver internal employees. Instructors explain and demonstrate what happens in the field giving office and warehouse employees a better understanding of the pumping process and challenges.
“All the training we offer centers around our core values of being #1 in innovation, teamwork and customer service,” says Kyle Cordell, Pump U instructor. “These classes are very fluid and constantly changing to meet customers’ needs. No isn’t an answer for us. We make it happen by adapting to their requests and because of this, we’re building long-term relationships.”
2015 isn’t going to slow down. Pump U will be expanding by adding training classes for the YWS Fluid End. Instructors will also soon be teaching classes at Gardner Denver’s new Edmonton, Canada, facility.
